Dr. Speer did a great job, I was so very impressed with him. Dr. Speer met with us after my husband’s surgery. He explained everything thoroughly. Even took the time to express his concerns that he felt my husband had sleep apnea. Dr. Speer stated he should follow up with his family medical doctor.

This is the fourth surgery that he has performed on our immediate family. We were all very satisfied.

Absolute jerk. When i told him i was still in a lot of pain 6 weeks after surgery he told me "stop being dramatic" and "its all in your head" I was dumbfounded. Never went back. Dealt with the pain for a long time before i saw another doctor. I had to have the joint replaced again. Unfortunately to much time had passed to charge this a$$h0le with malpractice. RUN AWAY FROM HIM

Run don’t walk away from this doctor. He’s arrogant and thinks he can do no wrong. He did my rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder and I continued to have problems with it. He didn’t think it was necessary to examine or check it 6 weeks after surgery even though I was having problems. My internal medicine Dr saw me and contacted him personally and told him it needed to be looked at because it was popping and clicking. When I got there he just sat on the other side of the room with a smug look on his face and didn’t look at it or listen. I’m glad I got a different surgeon for my left shoulder because that was more complex. That was my rotator cuff and labrum. If Speer did that shoulder I would have been even more screwed.

Amazing experience with Dr. Spear and his staff. They were very informative, very personal, excellent communication prior and post proceedure. Working with pain for so many years the shoulder replacement was an excellent choice. Now I am pain free with complete motion and strength in just 6 months.
Word of advice: Dr Spear is the best, "listen" and adhere to their direction for recovery. Pick a rehabilitation they recommend and follow through. Do exactly what they say even if it makes your daily life a little inconvenient, it is a small price to pay for a new shoulder that could last the rest of your life.

My shoulder was a disaster after putting off surgery for ten years. Many chips and three tears. The only reason I broke down and had the surgery was the pain got to be unbearable. I had been under another doctors supposed care for a couple of years. That is another story. Thank goodness, I woke up. I met with Dr Speer and he had me on the table within a month. Very complex surgery taking over 2.5 hours. The therapy is the painful part. But, the surgery was a tremendous success. I am stronger and more agile than in the past twenty years. I am so pleased with Dr Speer and his team. He only does shoulder surgery. Do not be sold that general surgeons and "team doctors" are the best. They cannot match a specialists job. A year later, my shoulder is better than ever.

Dr. Speer is an excellent surgeon and he care about his patients. His team members PA, nurses and the front desk staff work so efficient to meet the needs of the patients on any days. They pay attention to your needs and respond very quickly. Dr. Speer should be a role model to all the other outpatient clinics. I am very grateful to Dr. Speer and his team for taking good care of me.

Dr. Speer did the second rotator cuff repair on my right arm. A year and a half later I won the National Senior Games 70+ womens pickleball singles championship. Recovery took almost a year but it was worth it. His staff and the staff at the Duke Raleigh Hospital were absolutely the best. Efficient, prompt, careful, well-organized, attentive to detail. I have referred dozens of pickleball and tennis players to his office. They have all...literally ALL.... been very happy with the care and the outcomes.
